Named "Zhongshan District" in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, this area boasts 68 parks, the highest number in Taipei. Walking through its streets, one can still sense the passage of time: Zhongshan North Road, which runs through the district, was once the "Imperial Envoy Road" used by Japanese royals to visit the Taiwan Shrine during the Japanese colonial period. The influence of American culture began in the late stages of World War II with the establishment of the U.S. Military Advisory Group. In the 1970s, a wave of Japanese businessmen expanding their enterprises in Taiwan brought a strong Japanese atmosphere to the alleys and commercial areas. Today, the district has evolved into a hub of commerce, blending diverse artistic, historical, and cultural influences.
