Inside the Cultural Cube, the permanent exhibition Music Island Stories takes visitors on a cross-generational musical journey. Starting from the 1930s with the film soundtrack “Peach Blossom Weeps Blood”, the exhibition spans the early days of the folk era with acoustic guitars, the explosive energy of underground bands in live venues, and more. Featuring over 1,000 exhibits, 111 songs, and 12 themed sections, the exhibition brings to life the collective memory and creative spirit of Taiwanese pop music.
Highlights include rare memorabilia such as the iconic red Firebird outfit, posters of Frankie Kao (Kao Ling-feng), Chang Yu-sheng’s red guitar, the original manuscript of D.J. SoLo’s Life’s a Struggle, and Wu Bai’s very first Les Paul electric guitar. Fans can also find handwritten lyrics, posters, and stage props from stars like The Little Tigers, Lim Giong, and Cheer Chen—evoking the eras they helped define alongside their audiences.
The exhibition features specially recorded introductions for each section by 14 influential figures in the music industry, including godfather of music Jonathan Lee, Taiwanese pop pioneer Wen Xia, Matilda Tao, Rene Liu, Golden Melody Special Contribution Award winner Lo Ta-yu, folk music advocate Cora Tao, Cheer Chen, Sylvia Chang, Ashin from Mayday, Wang Leehom, and rock icon Wu Bai. English audio guides are narrated by rising stars 9m88 and ØZI, who offer a range of perspectives on the deep connection between the music and people of Taiwan.
